２年生の必修英語授業では、ユニークな水族館に関するテキストを読んだ後、海の生き物について書く活動を行いました。
生徒たちは好きな生き物を1つ選び、イラスト付きワークシートを用いて、「ヒレ」「触手」「ひげ」など、動物の体の専門用語を学びました。学んだ語彙を用いて、好きな動物の特徴と理由を書き、書いた内容をお互いに発表し合いました。ある生徒は「クラスメートのお気に入りの生き物がそれぞれ違うので、知る過程が楽しかった」と振り返ったり、中には「好きなものを考えることで、普段気づかなかった自分の好みに気づいた」と話す生徒もいました。
ライティング活動への取り組みや他者との意見交換は、知識だけでなく自分自身への理解も深めるようです。
In the 2nd-year mandatory English class, students engaged in a writing activity about sea animals after reading a text on unique aquariums.
Each student chose one favorite animal and described its characteristics such as body part, texture, and appearance. Using a handout, they learned technical terms for animal bodies including “flipper”, “tentacles”, “whiskers”, and so on. After writing, they also shared their work with their classmates. One student reflected that it was fun to learn about their classmates’ favorite living things because each classmate had different choices. Another said that thinking of their favorite made them notice their preferences they weren’t aware of in daily lives.
Through writing and sharing ideas, students were able to deepen not only their knowledge but also their self-awareness.
