Haruzaki Yamagarashi, which produces flowers similar to rapeseed, is designated as an invasive alien species that requires special attention.
On April 28th, a weeding activity was conducted along the banks of the Tarugawa River in Kijimadaira Village and the Chikuma River in Iiyama City. Supported by our school's student council, this activity gathered more than 50 participants, including students from Norin High School, Iiyama High School, and local community members.
With the sun shining and sweat on their foreheads, the participants pulled up Haruzaki yamagarashi flowers one by one, placed them in garbage bags, and cleaned up the area. This steady, hands-on effort is in line with the SDGs concept that “a hundred steps by one person is more valuable than a hundred steps by one person.” It is a meaningful step toward protecting our local ecosystem.
