3年生の選択科目、実践英語では日常場面での英会話に力をいれています。本日のテーマは「お気に入りの場所」でした。
普段、自分がリラックスできる好きな場所について意見を交換したのち、前回呼んだ住宅チラシの内容をオーナーと入居者の会話のロールプレイングを行いました。場面に合わせて適切な表現を使うことや会話の続け方の表現を学んで練習しました。会話のゴールは、日常で頻繁に使われる表現を使って質問し合い、設備・家賃などその物件を選んだ理由を聞き取ることでした。どの物件か会話の最後にオーナー役は質問し、理解を確認し合い自信をもつことができていました。
Practical English is one of the elective classes for third-year students at Norin High School. This class focuses on developing speaking skills for everyday situations. Today’s topic was “favorite places”.
After sharing ideas about relaxing spots, students participated in a role-play activity between a landlord and a tenant using housing flyers they had read in the last class. Through this role-play, they learned context-appropriate expressions and how to keep a conversation flowing naturally.
They practiced speaking and listening skills: asking common daily-life questions and listening carefully to the reasons why the tenant chose a particular place to live. At the end of the conversation, the student playing the landlord made a confirmation question. They successfully reached mutual understandings, which gave them a sense of accomplishment.
