７月11日（木）環境創造コース３年２名は、来校した信州大学教育学部附属長野中学校の生徒９名にバンブーキャンドルの作り方を教えました。同中学生は、放置竹林問題改善について探究しており、伐採された竹の有効活用を図っているとのことです。かねてより、放置竹林の竹を利用したバンブーキャンドル作りを行なってきた本校の生徒がこの日、指導者をつとめることになりました。
本校生徒は、竹の切り出し方、器具の使い方など、実演しながら教え、時には中学生の作業をサポートしました。時を忘れて作業に集中する中学生の姿に感心していました。時折飛んでくるバンブーキャンドル作りとは全く関係のない質問にたじたじでした。中学生の完成品を持ち喜ぶ姿や「知らなかったことを学べてよかった」の言葉に安堵していました。
On Thursday, July 11, two third-year students in the Environmental Creation Course taught nine students from the Nagano Junior High School attached to the Faculty of Education of Shinshu University how to make bamboo candles. The junior high school students are exploring ways to address the issue of abandoned bamboo forests and are trying to find effective uses for the cut-down bamboo. Our students, who have been making bamboo candles using bamboo from these abandoned forests, served as the instructors for the day.
They demonstrated how to cut the bamboo and use the equipment, while also providing hands-on support to the junior high school students. They were impressed by the concentration the junior high school students displayed, although they were occasionally flummoxed by questions unrelated to bamboo candle making.
They felt relieved to see the junior high school students satisfied with their completed products and to hear them say they were glad to have learned new things.
