5月20日（月）農業と環境の授業で１年生が田植えをしました。１年生は、栽植密度の違いが水稲の生育や収量に与える影響をテーマとしてプロジェクト学習に取り組んでいます。栽植密度を変えることは機械植えでは難しいため、生徒による手植えになりました。実習が始まると、裸足で水田に足を踏み入れた生徒の「キャー」という声が周囲に響きわたっていました。足に伝わる独特の感触に慣れた生徒は黙々と決められた間隔でイネを植えていきました。
現代ではあまり行われない素足で土を踏み締め素手で苗を植えるそんな貴重な体験を１年生はしました。無事田植えが終わり、今後生徒は日本の食を支える稲の生長を観察していくことになります。
On Monday, May 20th, first-year students planted rice in the Agriculture and Environment class. They have been engaging in a project studying the effects of different planting densities on the growth and yield of paddy rice. Because it is difficult to change planting density by machine, the students planted the rice by hand.
As soon as they started working, the students stepped into the paddy field barefoot, and their cries of "No way!" echoed across the field. Once they became accustomed to the unique sensation of their feet, they resumed planting rice at set intervals, this time silently.
After they successfully completed rice planting, students are going to observe the growth of the rice plants, which supports Japan's food supply.
