10月29日（木）シブガキ応援隊が結成されました。シブガキ応援隊とは、環境創造コースの2年生が木島平村の和栗地区にある長光寺周辺で、シブガキの収穫と緩衝帯の整備を行うものです。この活動は今年で10年目を迎え、先輩たちの思いも胸に活動が行われました。
シブガキなどの果物は、収穫されずに放置されるとイノシシやクマなどの野生動物の餌となり、人の住むエリアへの野生生物の出没を誘発してしまいます。また、山際の土地に草が生い茂っていると野生生物にとって良い隠れ家になり、人と野生生物が鉢合わせる危険性が増します。そこで、シブがき応援隊の隊員一人一人が、野生動物と人がお互いに気持ちよく共存できることを目的にシブガキの収穫と緩衝帯整備に取り組みました。
今回収穫されたシブガキは、11月14日（土）にファームス木島平で行われる「農林市」にて無料配布する予定です。生徒たちが、収穫した柿をぜひお持ち帰りください。
On Thursday, October 29, second-year students from the Environmental Creation Course formed this year's Shibugaki Support Team. The team works around Chokoji Temple in the Waguri area of Kijimadaira Village. They harvest astringent persimmons (shibugaki) and clear overgrown grass and weeds in a buffer zone. This activity is now in its 10th year. The students took over the work from previous team members.
When fruit such as shibugaki is left unharvested, it can become food for wild animals such as wild boars and bears. This can encourage them to come into areas where people live. Also, when grass and weeds grow tall on land near the mountains, they provide good hiding places for wild animals. This increases the risk of people unexpectedly encountering them.
To help people and wild animals live safely alongside each other, each team member worked to harvest the persimmons and clear the buffer zone.
The persimmons harvested by the students will be given away for free at the Norin Market at Farmus Kijimadaira Roadside Station on Saturday, November 14. Visitors are welcome to take some home!
