「手前から水が溢れちゃうけど何でだろう？」
8月22日（土）に第2回の農林DEリフレッシュが開催されました。今回は飯山市の小学生21名が参加し、「鉋くずアート作製」「竹水鉄砲・竹食器づくり」「流しそば」を楽しみました。
竹水鉄砲づくりでは、スポンジを木の棒の先端に巻き付けて、竹筒の大きさピッタリの手押し棒を作りました。完成した竹水鉄砲は林業棟の前の広場で試し打ちしました。「めっちゃ飛んでる！」「手前から水が溢れちゃうけど何でだろう？」実際に手を動かして、自然現象に疑問をもつ子どもたちの姿。竹という天然素材で作る水鉄砲は小学生にとって、とてもいい教材になったのではないでしょうか。
流しそばでは、第7回全国高校生そば打ち大会で優勝した高校生が打ったそばを流しそうめん風に楽しみました。小学生たちは、自分たちで竹を切って作った食器を使っておいしそうにそばを食べていました。
今回の活動では、トレーニング同好会とグリーンフォレスト部の生徒もボランティアで参加してくれました。高校生も笑顔で楽しんでくれる小学生と一緒に活動することで学んだことが多くあったように感じます。
今回の経験を次回の農林DEリフレッシュに生かしていきたいです！
“Why is water spilling out here?”
On Saturday, August 22, we held the second “Refresh with Agriculture and Forestry” event at Norin High School. That day, 21 elementary school children took part in the event and enjoyed making wood-shaving art, making water guns and tableware from bamboo, and eating flowing soba noodles.
When making bamboo water guns, they made a stick that fit the bamboo tube by wrapping a sponge around it. Children tried shooting bamboo water guns, saying “It shoots so far!” and questioning “Why is water spilling out here?” Through this hands-on activity, the children began to wonder about natural phenomena. Bamboo water guns made from a natural material was a good way for children to learn about nature.
In the style of nagashi-somen, they enjoyed eating soba made by a soba club member who won the 7th National High School Soba-Making Competition. They ate soba with tableware that they made from bamboo by themselves.
This event was supported by our volunteer students from the workout club and the Green Forest club. High school students also learned a lot by instructing and guiding children. We hope student organizers will make the future events better.
