産業創造コース3年生は、11月10日（月）飯山中央幼稚園の園児14名を本校に招き、サツマイモの茎を使ったリース作りとサツマイモの試食をしました。同コース生は、農業の役割と魅力を伝えるために、年度当初より園児と協働してサツマイモを育ててきました。この日はあいにくの雨となり、一緒にお芋掘りはできませんでしたが、あらかじめ収穫しておいたサツマイモをつかった屋内での交流となりました。
園児は、同コース生の説明のもとリースをつくりました。「もう、ふたつめだよ」「いいのができた」と言いながら、オリジナルの作品を次々と生み出していきました。リース作りを終えて、同コース生が作った、焼き芋を食べました。「おいしい」といいながら、あったかいお芋を頬張る園児。お兄さん、お姉さん達から農業のいいところ伝わったかな？
On Monday, November 10th, third-year students in the Agro-industry Creation Course welcomed 14 children from Iiyama Chuo Kindergarten to our school for a hands-on exchange activity, making wreaths from sweet potato stems and tasting roasted sweet potatoes. The students had been working with the kindergarten children since the beginning of the school year to grow sweet potatoes, aiming to share the role and appeal of agriculture.
Although it was raining that day and they couldn’t dig up the potatoes together, they enjoyed an indoor activity using sweet potatoes harvested in advance. Guided by the high school students, the children made their own wreaths, saying, “This is my second one already!” and “I made a good one!” as they created one original piece after another.
After finishing the wreaths, they tasted roasted sweet potatoes prepared by the students. “Delicious!” the children exclaimed as they happily bit into the hot sweet potatoes. The older brothers and sisters must have succeeded in sharing the joy and wonder of agriculture with them.
