クマによる被害が毎日報道されている10月23日（木）環境創造コース2年は“渋柿応援隊2025”を結成しました。隊名はクマの誘因物質である柿を収穫し出没対策とすることに由来します。同隊は同日、クマの生態や出没・被害状況について講義をうけた後、長野県下高井郡木島平村和栗地区の柿を収穫することに加えて、山林と人里との境界線を整備(除草)しました。いずれの取り組みもクマを人里に寄せ付けないための対策です。
収穫された柿はおよそ200kg。農林市において無償で配布します。また、獣道やクマの隠れ家になっていたおよそ10aは、除草によりきれいに整備されました。
先日同地区から回収されたセンサーカメラは、山際で活動するクマの姿が捉えられていました。今後も監視を続け、今回の活動成果を検証する予定です。
On Thursday, October 23rd, second-year students in the Environmental Creation Course formed the Persimmon Support Team 2025. There have been increasing reports of bear damage across Japan. The team’s name comes from its main activity—harvesting astringent persimmons, which are known to attract bears, in order to help prevent bear intrusions into residential areas.
On the same day, students attended a lecture about bear ecology, sightings, and recent damage cases. After that, they visited the Wakuri area of Kijimadaira Village in Shimominochi District, Nagano Prefecture, where they harvested persimmons and cleared vegetation along the boundary between forest and village. Both activities were part of their effort to reduce bear appearances near human settlements.
The students collected about 200 kilograms of persimmons, which will be distributed free of charge at the local agricultural market. In addition, around 1,000 square meters of overgrown land—once used as animal trails and bear hiding spots—was cleared.
A sensor camera recently retrieved from the same area captured footage of bears moving along the forest edge. The research team plans to continue monitoring the area and evaluate the effects of this activity.
