お盆はご先祖様を供養する日本古来の伝統行事です。お盆にお仏壇やお墓に供える花は盆花と呼ばれます。
産業創造コース3年生は先月中旬、盆花のケイトウ、センニチコウ、アスターを定植しました。雨の影響で足元が悪い状況での実習でしたが、３種類あわせて約3000本の苗を植えることができました。栽培管理を行い、お盆直前に収穫と調整そして販売する予定です。
今回の定植や今後の管理実習はお盆の開花をねらうもので、このように出荷時期にあわせて植物の成長をコントロールする栽培技術が農業には求められます。
Obon is a traditional Japanese event to pay respects to ancestors. Flowers offered to Buddhist altars and graves during Obon are called Bon flowers.
In the middle of last month, third-year students of the Agro-industry Creation Course planted Bon flowers, such as celosia, globe amaranth (Bachelor's Buttons), and asters. Although the rain made it difficult to work in the field, the students successfully planted approximately 3,000 seedlings of the three flower types. The students will continue to care for, plan to harvest, prepare and sell the plants just before Obon.
This hands-on practice in planting and cultivation focuses on making flowers bloom in time for Obon. In agriculture, it’s important to acquire cultivation techniques that control plant growth and match harvests to shipping and market needs.
