 What's New in 2010
 23 March: The closing ceremony for the school year.
 22 March: The second year students of the course joined a fund rasing activity for the Christchurch earthquake disaster, and presented the fund to the Iida New Zealand Association, which was appealing for donations.
 18 March: A special lecture for the first year students of the course about the fields of interpreting and translating was held. The lecturer, Ms. Miho Akiyama from Japan College of Foreign Languages spoke about what kind of knowledge and education are required to do those jobs and also what kind of skills and personality are indispensable for working well in such a business. The students could make a clearer image on those jobs and were motivated to study harder.
 15 March: A special lecture for 1st year students of the International Studies Course on how to improve their scholastic ability was given by Mr. Hiroaki Furusawa of the Benesse Corporation. He introduced hints on how to study and also how to use practice exams effectively. It was very instructive.
 13 March: 34 students set out for their study trip to Australia. Their departure was delayed a day because of the Tohoku & Kanto Great Disaster, but they arrived in Australia safely. They will come back to Iida on 25th.
 9 March: The second round of the public high school entrance exams was held.
 4 March: Our graduation ceremony was held.
 25 February - 2 March: Final exams for the 3rd Trimester.
 24 February: A special lecture was given to the 1st year students of the International Studies Course by an alumna, Ms. Mitsuzawa. She talked about her university life, especially what she studies in the department of global affairs, and also her international cooperation experiences including helping build houses in Indonesia and providing educational support in Cambodia. Our students were very impressed with her speech and got more interested in international cooperation activities.
 22 February: The devastating earthquake occurred in Christchurch, NZ. Our student, AI, who is studying there was found to be safe.
 22 February: A Cordinator of International Relations (CIR), Mr. Sorin Ridgway-Brown gave lectures on Australia's language and culture to the 1st and 2nd year students of the International Studies Course. The lecture was informative and impresseive especially for those who are going to visit Australia on their study trip in March.
 2 February: The First round of public high school entrance exams was held.
 27 January: A special lecture meeting by Ms. Kayoko Ikeda, who published "If the World were a village of 100 people" series booksk, was held. The students could learn what is really happening in the world, and also were encouraged to have self-confidence and were motivated to think for themselves about issues informed through media.
 24 January: Ms. Sue Fraser held special Enlish classes for International Studies students. She taught 2nd year students about how to write English essays, and 1st years about English reading skills. Every year she gives special classes, and the students effectively learn various English skills.
 19 - 21 January: Mid-term exams for the 3rd Trimester.
 15 - 16 January: University Center Exams were given and more than 225 3rd year students took them.
 28 December - 5 January: New Year holidays.
 27 December: The closing ceremony for the 2nd Trimester.
 7 December: Inter Class matches.
 29 November - 2 December: Final exams for the 2nd Trimester.
 28 November: The annual "Iida's Evening of International Exchange" was held at the Jibasangyo Center. The event was just a day before the final exams and the students couldn't join it, but copies of an English guidebook for this region edited by the 1st International Studies Course students, An Insider's Guide to Shimoina, were handed out for free, which helped with the exchange. Our foreign student from Thailand sang a Thai song on the stage, which the audience really enjoyed.
 20 November: The 7th annual Fuetsu English Speech Contest was held. 7 students participated in the Recitation Division, and 8 students in the Speech Division. Each participant made a very impressive presentation, showeing their continual efforts in studying English. This year two exchange students made speeches in Japanese, which helped everyone there learn about how we can enjoy friendship beyond borders, and what it is like to understand each other mutually. Also students who came back from one-year study programs in the US and in Italy made presentations in English and Italyan. The Gold Prize in the Recitation division was presented to Ms. M.Y. who recited the speech "Madam Curie," and in the Speech Division Ms. S.M. recieved the Gold Prize for giving her speech "The Turning Point in my Life." The event helped create an international atmosphere in Fuetsu.
 30-31 October: Nagano English Club League 2010 Annual English Debate Contest was held in Nagano. Three teams joined it from Fuetsu High School and fought hard. One of our members won one of the best debater awards.
 28 October: At this year's Peace and Human Rights Education event, a lecture & concert by Mr. Yuji Sasaki was held. He is a nephew of Ms. Sadako Sasaki, who became a motif of the Children's Peace Memorial in Hiroshima Peace Park. His words and songs, INORI and others, impressed us. Students presented him with a thousand cranes, hoping for peace.
 22 October: Fuetsu Chorus Competition was held. 2nd year class at FISC sang "March 9th" and won the Special Prize. 1st year class sang "We Are the World" and won the Silver Prize.
 16 October: The Closing Ceremony of Fuetsu Domestic Science Course was held. The course was closed in March 2009 after educating students for 107 years.
 14 October: All the students did landscape gardening work.
 7 October: Fuetsu Walking Race was held. Boys run or walked for 30 kimometers, and girls did for 24 kimometers.
 30 September: 1st year students at the FISC visited Nagoya University and Nanzan University. They were impressed with exciting explanations, a beneficial lecture, also with facilities in the campus. Then eventually they were motivated to study harder to go on to universities or high education in two and a half years. Good Luck!
 29-30 September: 2nd year students at the FISC, went on the school trip to Kyoto and Osaka. They visited Ritsumeikan University and attended a demonstration lecture at the College of International Relations. The lecture impressed them so much as to movitave them to study in university.
 18-19 September: Fuetsu English Camp was held at Matsukawa Youth House. 38 students had a great time trying to communicate in English, supported by friendly and kind native ALTs(Assistant Language Teachers). Great thanks to ALTs.
 14-11 September: Mid-term exams of the 2nd trimester.
 17-23 August: Ms. Sakamaki, who was the 6th session student of the FISC, joined SYD Youth Action Programme in the Philippines to help the street children. Her class did the project last summer and this year she joined it by herself. She sent us a messasge about real happiness she found there. We are proud that she's been advancing the studies she did in FISC.
 7-12 August: Ms. Suguira at the 2nd year was chosen as the prefectural representative for the National Leaders' Camp Under 18, which was oraganized by Japan Camber International and joined the camp to exchange ideas to create the better future.
 28 July: Fuetsu Open Campus. 107 junior high school students and 43 parents or teachers came to see the Fuetsu International Studies Course(FISC).
10-12 July: The 57th Fuetsu School Festival
28 June: "Hallo!" An *IFA student from Holland joined the 1st year class and started school life. Through the exchange all the students, both foreign and Japanese, will have a great time promoting mutual understanding to create a peaceful world. *IFA: International Friendship Association 
22-25 June: Final exams of the 1st trimester.
 11 June: JENESYS Exchange Meeting. 21 Chinese students visited us, and the 2nd year students enjoyed the exchange.
 9 June: Music appreciation. We enjoyed listening to Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.
 5-6 June: The prefectural games of the Inter-high-school championship were given.
 2 June: Matthieu has left Fuetsu for France.
 24-27 May: Mid-term exams of the 1st trimester.
 15-16 May: The Nanshin regional games of the Inter-high-school championship were given.
29 April: The English Day was held for the 1st year students. They did various activities with 5 ALTs, the students enjoyed communicating in English.
 28 & 30 April: Sports Days.
 15 April: Club organization. New members joined each club activity.
 15 April: Ms.Beverley Richardson visited Fuetsu High School, and joined English classes to introduce School Life in Australia. She worked for Toronto High School, New South Wales, Australia, as Head Teacher of English. Students at the International Studies course visited Toronto High School in 2007 and 2009.
 6 April: The entrance ceremony was held, and 33 new students entered the International Studies course. Two foreign students joined the International Studies course: one from Norway and the other from Thailand.
 5 April: The new school year has started. 42 students at the International Studies course are promoted to the 2nd year, and 34 are to the 3rd year.

Mt.Fuetsu
The name of our school originates from Mt.Kazakoshi, also called Mt.Fuetsu, which has the same Chinese characters. This mountain provides a beautiful backdrop for our school.
